DPM causes zombie processes, software version 2.0.0.72
What is a zombie process? See this post by Bruce Dawson:
https://randomascii.wordpress.com/2018/02/11/zombie-processes-are-eating-your-memory/
Why is this a problem? It leaves process resources in memory and over time starves the endpoint of memory. Can also hork up some programs if the zombied process has a file handle to an object on the disk that’s important, etc.
What to do? I couldn’t reach a human on Dells’ support site. The tool came with my Dell monitors, I uninstalled it and the problem went away as expected.
How can I look for zombies on my machine? Aaron Margosis’ zombiefinder!
